Thismoviefeaturesundoubtedlythedumbestduoofpoliceofficersever,detectiveSteveKennedyandDr.PhilipHecht.Thesetwoguysaresuchidiotsthattheirincompetenceisfascinatingtowatch.Atfirst,theycan’tdecidewhetherallofthesedisfigurementcasesarerelated(duh!)andspendtherestofthemovietrying—sortof—tocatchtheperpetrator. ThemanyunintentionallyfunnyscenesincludeSteve’sgirlfriend(Henderson)beingkissedandgropedbyDesmond(whileSteveblanklywatchesfromadistance),thefirsthypnosisscene(“Youarethemeanestofallthedogs!!”),thebeatnikbarscene,andthefinalsceneatatheater,wherethe“secret”isrevealed,butonlyaftertheaudienceismesmerizedintodoingprettyoutrageousthings—likebadacting. Releasedduringthehypnosisandbeatnikcrazesoftheearly1960s,thisbizarremovieisaninterestingtimecapsuleandstarscultactressAllisonHayes.BesureandcatchHecht’s(GuyPrescott)jaw-droppingclosingline…it’sguaranteedtoleaveyouspeechless.
